Poker Tournament TipsHow to Win in Tournaments By Don Lewis
Size doesn’t matter, the size of the field should not influence your play. Only the players, the blinds, antes and the chip stacks at your table should influence your play.
In big tournaments as well as in little ones you need to get lucky. Your big hands need to hold up and you need to minimize your losses on losing hands. When you are behind in a hand, lady luck needs to come in and rear her beautiful head with help on the turn or river not only keep you alive, but make you a stronger force at your table.
Your at a table with 9 other guys and gals that want your stack, so play where your at and don't spend time worrying how many chips Phil has! Work on being the chip leader and remaining the chip leader. Stay focused on that goal and you WILL be successful.
Play to win, most people that are close to the money go into hold mode and that is when they start losing their chips and break the bubble rather than to make it in the money where they want to be. Keep playing your game. Just because your close to the money doesn’t mean that you have to lay down good hands.
You will need to constantly adjust your play as players role in to your table.Take a little bit of time and see who and what they are all abouit. Look for tells, even on the internet. Online players have them as odd as that may sound. Use all the knowledge that you have and you will do well.
By the way, last but not least, did I mention that you need to be lucky? Have fun guys and gals, relax and enjoy the fun tournaments. I know it's gut wrenching at times. Ya know you wouldn’t change it for the world! Welcome to tournament play.
