2005 WSOP UpdateGreg “Fossilman” Raymer is back at it again. Going into day 4 he has made it back into the money and is the current chip leader with just over a million in chips. They start the day with only 185 players left and will play down to around 100 or so by the end of the day.
But Fossilman isn’t the only well-known player left. Back in the pack there are still a few favorites. Here they are along with their approximate chip count: Phil Ivey $722,500, Howard Lederer $496,500, John Juanda $354,000. The current top 20 players before the start of today's action include:
Greg "Fossil Man" Raymer Stonington, CT $1,064,000
Rodney Pardey Jr. Las Vegas, NV $1,041,000
Brad Kondracki Kingston, PA $962,500
Johnny Howard Lexington Park, MD $910,500
Bob Larsen Milwaukee, WI $796,500
Tim Phan Westminster $746,000
Phil Ivey $722,500
Steve Marx Bellevue, WA $679,500
S Bartholomew London, UK $659,000
Gabe Wells Indianapolis, IN $655,500
Bryan Stelbuger Huntington, NY $648,500
Oskar Silow Goteborg, Sweden $638,000
Bob Hotchandani Belize $627,500
Raymi Sanchez Thorn Stockholm, Sweden $595,500
Manelic Minaya Tampa, FL $594,500
Tex Barch McKinney, TX $590,000
Jon Lane Osh Kosh, WI $585,000
James Ocson Fair Oaks $583,000
David Bergsdorf Umea $579,500
Tom Sartori Buffalo, NY $574,500
The average chip count for the start of day 4 will be around 300,000. The question that comes to mind is can Fossilman do it again with a field that more than doubled from last year? It would be amazing to see another back to back champion at the WSOP. The last back to back champion was Johnny Chan and that was all the way back in 1987/1988. We'll be back at ya in the morning, good luck guys and gals. Note: There are only 4 women left in the WSOP. Will lady luck prevail?
